| An application of newscast and reporting, on camera presentation skills, live and taped broadcasts, voice overs etc, interviews in studio and the field. | ||||
| NEWS-6025 | TV & Digital News Reporting 1 | 4 | ||
| The effective use of words, pictures and sound to tell stories. Students will produce television and digital news stories for internal and industry partners. | ||||
| NEWS-6026 | TV & Digital News Production | 6.5 | ||
| This course takes students through intensive practical experience in news and current affairs production, including studio work, story creation and the implementation of production elements for television and digital platforms. | ||||
| NEWS-6028 | News Editing | 2.5 | ||
| This course will introduce students to basic post production using industry standard software. Focus will be on news editing styles and techniques. The primary goal is to acquaint the student with industry editing concepts, procedures and styles. A secondary component includes exposure to basic graphics creation techniques. Media and file management will also be covered. | ||||
| NEWS-6027 | Field Production | 2.4 | ||
| This course is designed to have the student actively become involved in a field production. The student will participate in newsgathering, writing, reporting for digital and television news productions. The student must function effectively as part of the team when interacting with staff, crew, talent and other volunteers. They are also encouraged to use the experience to develop and enhance their personal professional development. | ||||
| NEWS-6029 | New Videography | 3 | ||
| This course will introduce students to visual news gathering techniques. Shooting techniques used in contemporary visual storytelling will be taught. Students will learn the basics of composition, lighting, framing, all technical operations of industry standard equipment in news gathering and storytelling. | ||||

| NEWS-6014 | TV News Presentation 2 | 2 | ||
| An application of newscast and reporting, on camera presentation skills, voice overs, in studio and the field. Students will produce news stories, newscasts, and interviews using field and studio facilities and study the various formats now in use in the industry. | ||||
| NEWS-6031 | TV & Digital New Production 2 | 2 | ||
| Students will participate in advanced storytelling in news, current affairs and short-form documentary. The course emphasizes industry standards in writing, shooting, editing and all television and digital production. | ||||
| FLDP-6030 | Internship | 7.6 | ||
| Designed to develop and enhance the student's preparation for employment with an opportunity to participate in an internship within the television and digital news industry. The course emphasizes professional communication skills, career research and preparation, in addition to the development of a portfolio and improved networking skills. | ||||
| NEWS-6030 | TV & Digital News Reporting 2 | 2 | ||
| Students source, research, write, shoot, and edit television and digital content for internal and external partners. | ||||

| Students Must Complete a Minimum of 10 credits in this program at Fanshawe College to meet the Program Residency requirement and graduate from this program | ||||
