Civil Engineering Technology

Get the skills you need for a career in the civil engineering industry!

In Fanshawe's Civil Engineering Technology program, you'll study the design, construction and operation of civil projects such as water distribution systems, storm and sanitary sewer networks and highways.

You'll also study structural engineering concepts like the design of steel frame and reinforced concrete buildings.

And you'll analyze theories for the treatment of water, sewage and solid wastes.

Plus, you'll learn how to select and test construction materials, and you'll develop skills in computer assisted design (CAD) and drafting, electronic surveying methods and writing technical reports.

You'll even get hands-on experience in the field of civil engineering, with a full twelve months of paid co-op!

When you graduate, you'll be ready for career opportunities with consulting engineers, surveyors, testing and inspection firms, government agencies and contractors involved in road and building construction and subdivision development.

You may also be eligible for advanced standing credit towards the Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) degree program at Lakehead University, and the Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering at Griffith University in Queensland, Australia.

Civil Engineering Technology (Management) is a three-year Ontario College Advanced Diploma program.
