Bus rerouting and campus road closures, May to August 2026
As part of the City of London’s ongoing East London Link rapid transit project, significant construction work will take place near Fanshawe’s London Campus beginning Monday, May 4, 2026, and continuing through August 31, 2026.
This next phase of work will affect campus access, internal roadways and London Transit (LTC) bus routing. Please review the details below and plan extra time when travelling to campus.
Oxford Street and Fanshawe College Blvd. intersection
Approximately four weeks, May 2026
Fanshawe College Blvd. will be closed at Oxford Street for construction beginning Monday, May 4.
What’s changing
- Northbound access to Fanshawe College Blvd. from Oxford Street will be closed until approximately late May 2026
- There will be:
- No access onto Fanshawe College Blvd. from Oxford Street
- No access to Oxford Street from Fanshawe College Blvd.
- Vehicles exiting campus through the main gates will only be able to turn left (northbound)
- The City of London will install road closure signage:
- Along the east and west sides of Oxford Street (from Third Street to Highbury Avenue)
- At the north and south approaches of Fanshawe College Blvd., including Cheapside Street and Second Street
Campus access during construction
Access to Fanshawe’s London Campus will be maintained throughout the project, though routes will change.
Oxford Street: west entrance
- The far west Oxford Street entrance (beyond T Building) will be opened
- Vehicles entering from Oxford Street:
- Must travel straight through
- Cannot turn right
- Will be directed north via Alumni Road or Student Road (past Receiving and C Building, adjacent to Lots 5 and 6).
- Vehicles exiting campus to Oxford Street will need to travel around campus to reach this exit
- At times, construction activity may temporarily interrupt access at this entrance.
Fanshawe College Blvd. access
- The north entrance at Cheapside Street will remain open
- The east entrance at Community Gate will remain open but will only be accessible from the north (along the portion of Fanshawe College Blvd. that curves near Fleming Drive).
London Lane closure and bus detours
May 4 to August 31, 2026
Fanshawe’s internal roadway, London Lane will be closed (parallel to Oxford Street at the south end of campus) to allow construction crews to complete infrastructure work throughout the summer.
- No vehicles will be able to travel along the south side of campus during this period
- All LTC buses will be detoured as a result of the London Lane closure
- All Fanshawe-connected routes will change to avoid the construction area
- Several bus stops on campus will be relocated to avoid the construction area
- Some bus stops on or near campus may remain in place.
Pedestrians and drivers should be mindful of increased bus and pedestrian activity and abnormal traffic patterns on our campus roadways this summer. Please follow all posted signage and respect workers on site.
