Fanshawe’s Quality Partnerships and Military-Connected College teams have launched a new course credit bank for military-connected students.

The credit bank helps Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members and veterans explore whether their military training may be recognized for academic credit. It includes selected Fanshawe courses that have been reviewed against documented military training and experience. More information about the courses can be found on the Military-Connected College webpage; Fanshawe will continue to expand on the initial courses included in the credit bank.

This initiative was funded through the Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (OCAT). Last November, they announced funding “to help Canadian Armed Forces members turn the skills they developed during their service into the postsecondary credits they need to land in-demand jobs.”

“Fanshawe’s Military-Connected Credit Bank recognizes that CAF members and veterans may bring formal, assessed, and documented learning that is relevant to college-level outcomes,” says Christine Spicer, manager of Quality Partnerships at Fanshawe. “Through curriculum mapping, CAF qualification standards, training plans, course reports, and official service records have been reviewed against Fanshawe course learning outcomes.”

Students who are interested in learning more about the Military-Connected Credit Bank can connect with the military-connected college advisor at mcc@fanshawec.ca for guidance on documentation, possible credit options, and next steps.
