Temporary route changes due to construction beginning Monday, March 23
As part of the City of London’s ongoing East London Link rapid transit construction, new civil work will begin along Oxford Street near Fanshawe College’s London Campus. Construction crews will be working in front of the west entrance/exit on Oxford Street, the east bus-only entrance and the First Street intersection where London Transit buses currently exit. This work will extend into the campus property and require rotating closures of these entrances and exits.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, March 23, 2026, and is expected to continue for three to four weeks.
What this means for students and employees
- LTC bus stops on campus will not change.
Buses will continue to pick up and drop off at the same on-campus locations.
- Bus routes will temporarily detour.
To avoid construction zones, London Transit will reroute buses as they travel to and from the College. Passengers should allow extra travel time, as detours may result in slightly longer trips.
- More buses will be travelling through campus.
During the detour period, London Transit will use internal campus roadways. Pedestrians and drivers should watch for increased bus traffic and follow all posted signs.
- Drivers should plan alternate routes.
Students and employees who drive to/from campus should be prepared to use alternate roadways to enter and exit the campus. Drivers who rely on the west etnrance/exit may consider (a) taking Campus Drive to Community Gate, to exit at Fanshawe College Blvd.; (b) taking Alumni Road to Campus Drive, to exit at Cheapside Street.
(For details, see the London Campus map at fanshawec.ca)
Once the City completes this phase of construction and LTC resumes normal routing, Fanshawe will share an update with students and employees.

Learn more about East London Link
Fanshawe and the City of London are working together to make sure the new East London Link rapid transit corridor will provide easy access to campus. Together, we aim to keep things running smoothly, boost LTC bus ridership and reduce any negative effects on the environment and community.
During the construction period affecting Oxford St. and Second St./Fanshawe College Blvd., LTC bus stops on campus and nearby may be re-routed to avoid heavy roadwork and minimize delays. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work with with the City of London during these important transit and infrastructure improvements.
