A group of second-year Special Events Planning (SEP2) students at Fanshawe are celebrating the success of a recent charity event.

"She Shines: A Girls Night for Anova" was hosted on Friday, March 6, 2026 at Canada Life Village Square (Red Zone, London Campus). The cozy, community‑focused evening raised $3,000 for Anova, a London charity that provides shelter, counselling, crisis response and support for individuals affected by gender‑based violence.

Designed as the ultimate girls’ night in, She Shines welcomed guests ages 15 and older for a fun and uplifting mix of activities, including a vendor market, bracelet making, colouring, nail painting, board games, a photo booth and a lively toonie toss. The event also featured a gender‑based violence education session and an optional VIP movie night that included pizza, a drink and a special screening of the Barbie movie.

Organizers shared their excitement online, thanking attendees, vendors and sponsors for helping them to surpass their fundraising goal. "Because of your generosity and support, we met our fundraising goal and raised over $3,000 for Anova. We are so thankful for this amazing community coming together to support such an important cause," the team posted on Instagram

Local vendors echoed this enthusiasm, calling She Shines a beautiful event that brought the community together in support of meaningful advocacy.

This event was organized and produced as the students' final Signature Innovative Learning Experience (SILEx) capstone project. Fanshawe congratulates the students for their hard work, creativity, and commitment to building events that make a difference both on campus and in the London community.
