Studio Red Live debuted earlier this week, bringing together students from Fanshawe's Media Production - Television and Film, Journalism - Multimedia and Music Industry Arts programs to create a live music presentation.

The project provides valuable experiential learning opportunities across all three programs with local musicians gaining a platform to share their talent, Television and Film students building hands-on production experience and Journalism students developing their hosting and storytelling skills.

The inaugural episode featured You Might Be Sleeping, a three-piece indie-rock group from Guelph, Ontario. The show was streamed on YouTube and will be broadcast on Rogers Television.

Steve Young, professor and coordinator of the Journalism – Multimedia program, says Studio Red Live highlights the power of interdisciplinary collaboration while creating meaningful industry experiences for students and celebrating local musical talent.

"Proud to see students and faculty from three programs coming together to create something that benefits everyone involved,” he says. “Looking forward to seeing Studio Red Live continue to grow and highlight the incredible talent within our community."

The next episode will air on November 3.
