As Pride month kicks off on June 1, Fanshawe is preparing to raise the Progress Pride flag at our campuses.
The Progress Pride flag serves as a symbol of inclusivity and of Fanshawe’s commitment to supporting and celebrating all members of our 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Designed by Daniel Quasar in 2018, this flag adds a five-coloured chevron to the traditional rainbow flag to represent communities of colour, transgender individuals, and those living with HIV/AIDS. The Progress Pride flag underscores the importance of intersectionality and the ongoing fight for equality and justice for all.
Students, staff, faculty, alumni and community members are invited to attend as we raise the Progress Pride flag!
This year’s event will also include a first look at a new Pride-themed sidewalk near the flagpoles at the London Campus. We are excited to unveil this permanent symbol of our enduring commitment to 2SLGBTQIA+ inclusion throughout the year. The sidewalk will be painted in May, weather permitting. Likewise, the regional campuses have adopted framed Pride flags as permanent symbols of Fanshawe’s continuing pledge to fostering a culture of belonging.
