Warning to students about job and housing listings
Campus Security Services and Employment and Student Entrepreneurial Services are cautioning students to be aware when exploring employment and housing options online. While many students turn to social media platforms to search for hidden job and housing markets, these sites create an increased risk of fraudulent listings, as there is no verification method.
If you believe you are a victim of fraud, you can contact Campus Security Services by calling 519-452-4400 or visit the Security Control Centre, room D1027. You can also report scams to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre online or by telephone at 1-888-495-8501.
Employment
Be cautious about job postings from social media, such as Instagram, or websites that aren’t normally for job postings. Fanshawe's Employment and Student Entrepreneurial Services (ESES) office screens employers and jobs before they’re posted through Fanshawe, but students are still urged to research potential employers and beware of jobs on external sites.
Students and recent alumni can take advantage of the free job site through FanshaweOnline > College Services > Career/Co-op/CCR. You will be directed to the myFuture dashboard. Find the link "Job Posting."
If you encounter anything fraudulent or have any doubts, please contact your Career Consultant to discuss these job offers.

Housing
Fanshawe is partnered with Places4Students Inc., a company that specializes in providing academic institutions with off-campus housing solutions. Place4Students provides students with a user-friendly, fully accessible online directory to search for suitable housing accommodations, find roommates and post sublets. The site also features rental housing related information and tips and resources for both students and landlords. Students can learn more on our off-campus housing website.
