Your Gift, Your Way

There is no single path to planned giving. Whether you choose to leave a gift in your will or make a gift through life insurance, your contribution will help future students access the same quality education that has shaped so many lives. We recommend discussing your options with an estate lawyer or financial planner, and your family, to determine which approach is right for you.

A Gift in Your Will

Also known as a bequest, a gift in your will is a simple and effective way to ensure your legacy lives on, and may benefit your estate through charitable tax credits. You can choose to:

  • Designate a specific dollar amount
  • Designate a percentage of your residual assets after all other financial commitments are met
  • Designate a gift of property or securities

A Gift of Life Insurance

A gift of life insurance is a meaningful way to remember Fanshawe in your estate plans while enjoying tax benefits throughout your lifetime. There are several options available to you:

  • Purchase a new policy and name Fanshawe as owner and beneficiary
  • Transfer ownership of an existing policy to Fanshawe
  • Donate a paid-up policy you no longer need

Tax Receipts and Benefits

All planned gifts to Fanshawe College are eligible for charitable tax receipts. Depending on the giving option you choose, you may receive annual tax receipts during your lifetime or a receipt for the fair market value of your gift. We recommend speaking with an estate lawyer or financial planner to understand the tax advantages available to you.
