Flexible Online Format

You don’t need a perfect idea. You need an idea you’re ready to test.

leapIN is for people who are serious about exploring whether their business idea has real potential. You may have a side hustle, an early-stage business, a problem you’ve experienced personally, a skill you want to use differently, or an idea that keeps coming back. You don’t need everything figured out before you apply. You do need to be ready to learn, test, talk to customers, take feedback, and adapt.

This program may be for you if you:

  • have a business idea, side hustle, or early-stage business
  • are a Fanshawe alum or eligible current student
  • are willing to commit time each week
  • are open to changing your idea based on evidence
  • want coaching, structure, and community
  • are ready to test, not just dream

Flexible enough for real life. Serious enough to create real progress.

This version of leapIN was designed for people with jobs, families, responsibilities, and busy schedules. It begins with a one-week in-person intensive (November 16–20, 2026), then continues mostly online with weekly live sessions and asynchronous learning. But flexible doesn’t mean passive. This is for people ready to show up, do the work, talk to customers, test their ideas, and keep moving even when things feel uncertain.

Weekly online session days and times will be confirmed before the program begins.

This isn’t a passive online experience

leapIN is action-based. You won’t just learn about entrepreneurship, you’ll apply the work directly to your own idea. During the program, you will:

  • clarify your business idea
  • identify your target customers
  • test your riskiest assumptions about your business
  • conduct customer discovery
  • find out whether people actually want what you’re building
  • refine your offer and revenue model
  • receive coaching and feedback
  • connect with other founders
  • build evidence for your next move

Launching isn’t the only measure of progress

Some participants launch during or after leapIN. Others pivot, refine, pause, or realize their idea needs to change. That’s not failure — that’s evidence. The real goal is to find out whether your idea is worth pursuing before you invest too much time, money, and energy building the wrong thing. Sometimes the smartest entrepreneurial move isn’t launching faster. It’s learning earlier.

How funding works

Each business receives $3,000 in funding, paid across the program to support your participation and business development. Important: this stipend is considered income, not a grant — which is why participants must be legally eligible to work in Canada.

Application Process & Key Dates

Applying to leapIN is straightforward. The process helps you clearly explain your idea and show us who you are as a founder.

  1. Prepare your video pitch. Record a short video introducing yourself and your idea. We recommend recording first; it makes the written application faster. Don’t worry about polish, we value clarity and authenticity far more than production quality.
  2. Submit your online application. Complete the form and upload your video or share a link.
  3. Selection interviews. Shortlisted applicants are invited to a conversation with our team.
  4. Join the cohort. Successful applicants receive an offer and begin leapIN in November.

FAQs

Is my idea good enough?

You don’t need a perfect idea to apply. leapIN is designed to help you test and improve it. We look for people who are serious, coachable, curious, and ready to take action.

Am I too early?

You may be a good fit if you have a business idea, side hustle, early concept, or a problem you’re ready to explore seriously. You don’t need customers yet, but you should be ready to talk to potential customers and test your assumptions.

Am I too far along?

You may still be a good fit if your business is less than one year old, or if you’re still testing your model, offer, customer segment, pricing, or sales approach.

Can I do this while working?

Yes — this version of leapIN was designed for people with busy lives. It begins with a one-week in-person intensive (November 16–20, 2026), then continues mostly online with weekly live sessions and asynchronous learning. You’ll still need to commit time each week to participate and complete the work.

What does “online” actually mean?

After the opening intensive, most of the program is delivered online through live sessions and asynchronous learning. You’ll still participate actively, complete assignments, connect with your cohort, and apply the work to your business.

What if I’ve never taken business courses?

That’s okay. You don’t need a business background to apply. leapIN helps emerging founders build practical skills through action, coaching, and real-world testing.

What does the $3,000 funding cover?

The funding supports your participation and business development during the program. It may help with lost wages, product or service development, business expenses, or other approved uses. Talk with a LEAP Junction advisor before spending funds. Note: the stipend is considered income, not a grant, so you must be eligible to work in Canada.

What if I don’t launch?

Launching is one possible outcome, not the only measure of success. The main goal is to validate whether your idea is worth pursuing. Some participants launch; others pivot, refine, or decide not to move forward after gathering evidence.

Who is this not for?

It’s not for people who only want to think or talk about an idea. It’s for people ready to test, learn, adapt, and act. If you’re not willing to commit time, talk to customers, take feedback, or adjust your idea, this may not be the right fit.

How many spots are available?

There are 15 spots available.

When do applications close?

Applications close September 30, 2026.

Is there an info session?

Yes. We’re hosting a program info session on August 19, 2026 at 1:00 PM, where you can learn how the program works, meet the team, and ask questions before you apply. Weekly online session times for the cohort will be confirmed before the program begins.
