Fanshawe College has responded to a need in the local community with a donation of medical supplies to Woodstock Hospital.
The College’s Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus donated a variety of items including oxygen supplies, masks, isolation gowns, gloves, hand sanitizer and other cleaning supplies.
“There was a need and Fanshawe responded — this is how we help one another during times of such uncertainty,” says Klaske Rheubottom, professor at Fanshawe’s Woodstock/Oxford Regional Campus and registered nurse at Woodstock Hospital. “Fanshawe College and Woodstock Hospital have a close partnership as the hospital provides placement opportunities for our nursing students. When the need for supplies arose, it was Fanshawe’s turn to give back.”

In-person classes at the College have been postponed in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Equipment that would normally be used by students in the Practical Nursing and Personal Support Worker (PSW) programs in the on-campus simulation lab will be put to good use by health care workers who are caring for the residents of Oxford County.
“We sincerely appreciate the outpouring of support from our community during this unprecedented time,” says Perry Lang, president and CEO of Woodstock Hospital. “We have not only received medical supplies, but also words of encouragement and food and coffee for our staff who are working hard to keep everyone safe and healthy. We are seeing so many acts of kindness in the community and around the world, reaffirming the message we are in this together.”
