Welcome to EDI at Fanshawe
Advancing a sense of belonging for equity-deserving students, staff, and faculty at Fanshawe College, the Centre for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion commits to addressing and dismantling oppression experienced by racialized persons; First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities; persons with disabilities; members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community; and women-identified individuals.
It is our mission to achieve an authentic sense of belonging for every student, staff and faculty member within the College community by fostering inclusive classroom and learning experiences for our students, while intentionally recruiting equity-deserving employees and faculty.

- Strategically advance EDI priorities at all levels of the College
- Sponsor events, speakers and action campaigns to create a sense of belonging
- Provide equity, anti-racism and anti-oppression training and education
EDI Action Plan
Fanshawe’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Action Plan outlines the College’s multi‑year commitment to building a more equitable, inclusive, and welcoming community. The plan organizes more than 100 actions into six priority areas, including equity‑informed leadership, inclusive workplaces, equitable classroom environments, accessible campuses, diverse research teams, and supports grounded in equity and anti‑oppression principles. Each action is accompanied by clear timelines, accountability measures, and implementation status updates, ensuring transparency and ongoing progress across the institution.
EQUITY, DIVERSITY, INCLUSION (EDI) AND ANTI-OPPRESSION AT FANSHAWE
The EDI and Anti-Oppression Task Force
Under the leadership of Joseph Pazzano, director of the Centre for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion, the Task Force operates as an advisory body to the President and Executive Leadership Team. Comprised of over 30 diverse students, staff and faculty, the Task Force actively engages to dismantle systems of oppression like racism, colonization, ableism, transphobia, homophobia and sexism. In fall 2023, Fanshawe launched its first EDI strategic framework, A College Where We Belong.
