Greenhouse Gas Reduction Roadmap
To support the ongoing culture of conservation and sustainability at Fanshawe, the College completed a Greenhouse Gas Reduction Roadmap and Action Plan. The goal of this action plan is to reduce the college’s GHG emissions by 30% below 2013 levels by 2030 and 80% by 2050.
Fanshawe’s GHG Reduction Strategy involves four key elements:
- Conservation and demand management
- Space optimization and net zero buildings
- Fleet and facility electrification
- Renewable energy

Energy Conservation and Demand Management Plan
Waste diversion is a calculation of how much waste is produced that does not go to landfill. In 2019, 58.6% of total waste produced on campus was recycled, composted, or reused. Our goal is to increase our diversion rate every year, with a goal of zero waste to landfill by 2050.

What can you do to improve our diversion rate?
Current programming exists for containers, paper, and organics recycling. Specialty collections include coffee pods, electronics, used writing utensils, batteries, textbooks, and PPE.
