Fanshawe celebrated as local ChangeMaker
Each year the United Way of Elgin-Middlesex recognizes their ChangeMakers. ChangeMakers are people or teams who step up to make a difference. Through their energy, passion and commitment, they set an example. Each individual or group has found a way to help improve the local community.
This year, Fanshawe was nominated and selected to be recognized as the Outstanding Campaign Team - Large, by their United Way partners. "“Fanshawe College's campaign team rallied to raise over $100,000 for United Way this year! The entire committee worked diligently to plan events and promote the United Way campaign across Fanshawe. They came up with new and creative ways to fundraise money successfully. This included around $20,000 coming from special events, and over $80,000 from employee giving,” read the nomination.
Fanshawe's campaign team was humbled by the recognition, quickly crediting the entire Fanshawe community with the success of Fanshawe's campaign. "As a Co-Chair for the Fanshawe Campaign I am always struck by the level of commitment of the team and the greater college community to the United Way," shared Darlene O'Neill, campaign co-chair and director, Employment and Student Entrepreneurial Services. "We all recognize the vital importance of the difference United Way makes in our communities. This award belongs to everyone at Fanshawe – thank you for the recognition”.
