Street closures and openings near London Campus, November 2025
What Fanshawe students and employees need to know
As part of the City of London’s East London Link rapid transit project, construction continues near Fanshawe College’s London Campus.
As of Thursday, November 20, First Street will be closed for approximately one month with no southbound vehicle access. Second Street has re-opened as of Friday, November 21 for north/south vehicle access.
This means:
- No north–south travel through the Oxford Street and First Street intersection
- No access to Oxford Street from First Street
- Oxford Street remains open for east–west traffic
- All directions of travel resume through the Oxford Street and Second Street intersection.
London Campus access
All work for this year is complete at 1001 Fanshawe College Blvd. Our internal roadway, London Lane, will be open again soon, allowing general traffic to enter from Oxford Street.
Upcoming work
City of London construction crews will soon begin work on the north side of Oxford Street. Traffic will be shifted to the south lane to make that possible. Crews are currently finishing work on the south side of Oxford before switching traffic to that side by late December.
Getting to campus
Pedestrian access will be maintained
For those walking to campus, a temporary pathway is available along the north side of Oxford Street. Please follow posted signage and use designated crossings, which may shift as work progresses.
Driving detours
Drivers should follow detour signs and allow extra time when travelling through the area. Navigation apps like Google Maps or Waze can help you plan your route.
Local businesses
Nearby businesses remain open and accessible from Oxford Street.
Transit updates: bus stop changes and detours
London Transit Commission (LTC) will post notices of changes if they are necessary. For the latest route and detour information and updates about service changes, visit:

We appreciate your cooperation as we work with the City of London to improve transit infrastructure near the London Campus.
Learn more about East London Link
Fanshawe and the City of London are working together to make sure the new East London Link rapid transit corridor will provide easy access to campus. Together, we aim to keep things running smoothly, boost LTC bus ridership and reduce any negative effects on the environment and community.
During the construction period affecting Oxford St. and Second St./Fanshawe College Blvd., LTC bus stops on campus and nearby may be re-routed to avoid heavy roadwork and minimize delays. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work with with the City of London during these important transit and infrastructure improvements.
