For the second time, Fanshawe instructor and chef Erin Circelli-Russell (Culinary Management ‘03) has won Guy’s Grocery Games (GGG).
Each episode features four chefs in a three-round elimination contest, cooking food with ingredients found in a supermarket grocery store dubbed the Flavortown Market as host Guy Fieri tosses obstacles to their creations.
Chef Erin competed against other past GGG's winning mothers and claimed the title as 'Mother of All Winners'.
Round One
The competitors were required to create a weeknight favourite meal using packaged food and no fresh ingredients. Chef Erin created a play on gnocchi in a Bolognese sauce. The judges were impressed with her ability to bring flavour and freshness to her dish, sending her to the final round.
Final Round
The competitors were challenged to create an inventive family dinner using elements from an apple pie (apple, cinnamon, pie crust and vanilla ice cream). Chef Erin made beer batter, crispy shrimp tacos. The judges were wowed with her innovative thinking of using apple pie elements to create tacos and Chef Erin was crowned the winner of Flavortown.
The Decision
Next, Chef Erin had the choice of going on a shopping spree to win cash or she could choose a cheque hidden behind sliding doors that had anywhere between $14,000 and $20,000. Chef Erin decided to take the cheque and won $16,500.
We are #falconproud of you, Chef Erin! Congratulations!
