Fanshawe College has won the Ontario Colleges Marketing Competition (OCMC) for the first time in the event’s 36-year history.
Comprised of students from the Lawrence Kinlin School of Business, Fanshawe’s team dominated the competition with the number of points scored and gold medals won by:
- Crossing the 70-point barrier for total points – the first school to do it.
- Achieving the highest point total in OCMC history with 72.
- Winning five gold medals – the most ever in a single OCMC competition.
“This is a historic win for our school, and it is a testament to the quality and hard work of the students and professors in our marketing programs,” says professor and Fanshawe’s OCMC head coach Jack Michienzi. “It has only been a few days since the competition ended and multiple students on the team have already been approached for job interviews and job offers based on their performance at the event.”
The OCMC is a business case competition where students compete in 11 industry-specific areas: Advanced Marketing Strategy, Direct Marketing, Entrepreneurship, Integrated Marketing Communications, International, Marketing, Research, Prospect Pitch, Retail, Job Interview and Sales Presentation.
