Last year, Fanshawe Global embarked on a consultancy project with Universidad de Los Lagos (ULAGOS) in Chile. With this partnership, Fanshawe Global supported ULAGOS design and implement a new business model to connect academics with business and industry leaders in Chile to better prepare students transitioning to work after graduation. The ULAGOS project leveraged Fanshawe’s expertise in working with business, industry and employers.
Fanshawe Global provided consultants who conducted a needs assessment through interviews and focus groups to determine opportunities. Through discovery sessions, data was gathered and together, Fanshawe Global and ULAGOS created a model for working with business and industry while leveraging some of Fanshawe’s best practices and other worldly best practices (including models in Germany, Canada, Brazil and Mexico). Fanshawe Global then created a very custom model for ULAGOS. The project has been fully implemented online and has impacted 50 key educational leaders and faculty in ULAGOS.
Danilo Curumilla, director of the Technical Institute of ULAGOS says, “This project has left us with a comprehensive plan that contains all the necessary elements to ensure the development of technical careers in permanent coexistence with the productive sectors. Being able to work with Fanshawe Global has given us an advantageous profile in the higher education system in Chile, as well as improving the graduation profile of our students.”
High-level stakeholders, including the Canadian Ambassador to Chile and the President of ULAGOS, who is also the President of the Inter American Organization for Higher Education (IOHE), endorsed the project. The project will end in early 2022 with the implementation of a Forum titled: Successfully leading in the education sector: strategic management competencies, service culture and key relationship management.
