Fanshawe photography student Alexandra Serrano’s photograph, “Chasing the Dream: A Young Cyclist Journey,” is one of 10 winners in the photography category at the Rodeo 17 competition.
The contest is a national competition that’s open to all post-secondary visual arts students.
The winners exhibited their work at the Xposé Exhibition at the Todmorden Papermill Gallery in Toronto. It featured top student submissions from across Canada, which highlighted emerging talent in photography and illustration.
The Canadian Association of Professional Image Creators (CAPIC) sponsored the competition. Since 1978, CAPIC has been safeguarding and promoting the rights and interests of photographers, illustrators, and digital artists within the communications industry. CAPIC has six chapters across Canada.
Serrano’s photograph is the second win for her this year. In the spring, she won the Fanshawe Student Image Competition. The sponsor of Fanshawe’s competition, PHOTONews Canada, described the photo as “not only technically exceptional but emotionally resonant, capturing the spirit of perseverance and youthful ambition.”
