There are lots of ways to include an international learning experience into your time at Fanshawe! From short-term summer programs to field studies or even degree completion abroad, find the best option for you in this section or email studyabroad@fanshawec.ca with any questions you might have..

Short-term Summer Programs

International summer programs are short-term programs abroad that offer students from all academic areas the opportunity to include a study abroad experience in their Fanshawe studies! Each program is based around the destination country and hosted by one of Fanshawe’s partner institutions.

Students will take classes focused in their new host country and participate in field visits and cultural activities. International summer programs are immersive and offer high impact, short-term study opportunities to students. Students will study not only with local students, but students from around the world!

The programs vary in price and length depending on the destination. Students may be eligible for academic credit. Selected students will be eligible for the Fanshawe College International Learning Opportunity Scholarship!

International Summer Programs

Fanshawe has partnered with Humber College to allow Fanshawe students to apply for and participate in the international summer programs. In summer 2017 students had the opportunity to study in India and New Zealand!

Field Studies

Many Fanshawe programs offer opportunities for students to apply their learning in real-world situations! Field study trips are one type of these opportunities, where a group of Fanshawe students will travel with a faculty member and complete research and/or a project in the field.

Some examples of recent field study trips include:

  • Costa Rica
  • Brazil
  • Italy/Spain
  • Tourism and Travel Cruise
  • Golf Management Florida

International Placements and Co-ops

Are you registered in a co-op program? Does your program have a placement requirement? You may be able to find an appropriate co-op or placement abroad!

Students are responsible for securing their positions abroad and ensuring that the placement is pre-approved by their co-op consultant and/or program coordinator. Students can search for appropriate positions using the resources in our work abroad section.

Once you have secured an approved position abroad the International office can provide support and guidance in your visa applications, finding accommodation overseas, possible scholarship opportunities, etc.

Degree Completion Abroad

Students interested in turning their Fanshawe diploma or advanced diploma into a degree can take advantage of international articulation opportunities. An articulation agreement is an understanding where the receiving institution has agreed to accept a block of Fanshawe courses for credit (either one term, one year, or more!). Fanshawe has a growing number of agreements with institutions overseas including Ireland, England, Australia, New Zealand, and more!
