International students from Kenya exploring Fanshawe
Technologies, tours and Kenyan flags: a whirlwind Saturday in London saw the historical signing of four partnership agreements between Fanshawe College and government representatives from counties in Kenya.

The College will welcome additional international students from Kenya

On Saturday, November 19, Fanshawe International welcomed the 19 Kenyan delegates to tour several London Campus locations, including the Centre for Applied Transportation Technologies (Z building) and the Fanshawe Aviation Centre (Y building). The group then enjoyed a lovely lunch at the Chef's Table in Downtown London. After seeing the College's programs in action, the delegates concluded their visit by each signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Wendy Curtis, dean of Fanshawe International.

"These agreements represent four great opportunities for educational partnership," explains Wendy Curtis, dean of Fanshawe International. "Each new MOU will help to build bridges between our countries and industry contacts and to enrich the diversity in our classrooms, campuses and communities."

The five-year MOUs will allow up to 50 students from each Kenyan county to study at any Fanshawe College campus with full support from the governments of Elgeyo Marakwet, Murang’a, Nandi and Uasin Gishu thanks to services offered through ELIMU International Education Connections (ELIMU), a Nairobi, Kenya based education consultancy and agency. The agreements will allow Fanshawe and ELIMU to develop frameworks for supporting student scholarships, exchange activities and collaborative research projects.

The Governors of the four counties – their excellencies Wisley Rotich (County Government of Elgeyo Marakwet), Dr. Francis Irungu Kang'ata (County Government of Murang'a), Stephen Sang (Nandi) and Jonathan Kimeli Bii Chelilim (County Government of Uasin Gishu) – visited Fanshawe together with John Agak, president and CEO of ELIMU. They and their associates spent time meeting President Peter Devlin and Jeff Wright, Vice-President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development along with representatives from Fanshawe International.

"We were honoured to host our friends from Kenya and we look forward to years of strong and successful partnership," Curtis says. "Fanshawe International is ready to welcome the Kenyan students who will arrive through these opportunities, and to offer supportive services and resources to meet their unique needs."
