Fanshawe's School of Design is pleased to announce their students were winners of the TD Environmental Design Competition 2020 for Westminster Ponds Centre. The event was held in partnership with ReForest London.
First place $2,000 was awarded to team Group of Nine – Kristina Banatova, Alyssa Chiarello, Morgan Hill, Topanga Rivard-Vlcek and Jessica Wakefield from the Landscape Design and GIS and Urban Planning programs.
Second place $1,000 was awarded to team 757+ – Rachyl MacPhail, Jacob Smith, Danielle Gomes, Alessandro Milanese, Bailey Guan and Katie Chapeskie from the Landscape Design and GIS and Urban Planning programs.
Third place $500 is awarded to team BIOEffects – Liam Fischer, Andrew Hamilton, Nolan Riggs and Jessie Zavitz from the Honours of Environmental Design and Planning program.
According to William Pol, Environmental Design and Planning \ GIS and Urban Planning programs, the conceptual design and visualizations will inspire ReForest London in their new Westminster Ponds Centre for the Environment and Sustainability in London.
While student presentations planned for March 14 were cancelled, the jury met digitally to determine the merits of the 14 submissions from Fanshawe College, Waterloo University and Ryerson University. In lieu of presenting in person, keynote speaker, Carolyn Woodland provided a PowerPoint presentation with voiceover for faculty and students.
