Congratulations to the 2025 Pathways Scholarships recipients!
Presented annually by the Quality Partnerships team, the Fanshawe Pathways Scholarships recognize three Fanshawe graduates furthering their education with a degree or another credential at Fanshawe or at one of our partner schools in Canada or abroad. The Scholarships are funded from proceeds from the annual Fanshawe Pathways Fairs.
Amanda Reynolds, Will Bruce, and Emma Paquette were selected from a pool of applicants from multiple Fanshawe programs. They are currently completing a second credential through one of the articulation opportunities developed by Fanshawe. We wish them most success on the next step in their academic journey!
Amanda Reynolds
Broadcasting - Television and Film Production → Bachelor of Film and Screen Media Production, Grifith University, Australia
“Having the established pathway from Fanshawe to Griffith made my transition so much easier. The staff at Griffith were already familiar with my program, so my credits transferred smoothly and I could jump right into the next stage of my degree. It saved me time, and stress (since there’s already enough of that, being an international student!), and let me focus more quickly on other aspects of getting settled into Australia.
Fanshawe was such a special chapter in my life. I started my Film and TV Broadcasting program in 2021, right in the middle of COVID-19 restrictions, and even though it was a weird time, our professors worked so hard to keep us supported and inspired. My class was full of international students, and now that I’m studying abroad myself, I have so much respect for them and what they went through. At Fanshawe, I really learned how important collaboration is in filmmaking by working with people from so many different backgrounds. One of the most inspiring people I met was my professor Tarek, who had originally started alongside me as an international student from Lebanon and is now teaching at Fanshawe. He’s incredibly talented, patient, and kind, and he really shaped how I approach both my work and my relationships in the industry.
[To students planning to do a pathway abroad], Say yes to everything you can! Join clubs, volunteer on projects, speak up in class, and TALK TO PEOPLE. You’ve come all this way and invested so much into this experience, so make the most of it. The conversations you have and the connections you make can open doors you don’t even know exist yet. It can be intimidating, but it’s so worth it to put yourself out there and that’s really the part of living abroad that will teach you the most.”
Will Bruce
Pre-Media → Journalism - Broadcast → Bachelor of Media, Information and Technoculture, Western University
“This [pathway] gave me not only a second chance at going to a university, but also the unique skills and perspective you can only get when attending a college institution as well. It also lessened the financial burden of post-secondary education. Using my credits earned at Fanshawe, I cut my time for a degree in half. This means I will have a College Certificate, Diploma, and a Bachelor’s Degree in just 5 years. This pathway has truly changed the trajectory of my post-secondary and future workplace opportunities.
Fanshawe has done more for me than I can express. It made me WANT to learn again, something I hadn’t felt in a very long time. Being at Fanshawe made me want to explore new opportunities, and most of all, pushed me towards my potential. Gina Lorentz and Lisa Green were great mentors and were perfect at guiding and helping me figure out how to be ready for an industry that prides itself on speed, accuracy, and professionalism.
My advice for other students looking to continue their education is…DO IT! Whenever there is a new opportunity or chance to have a new experience, you should always take it. Education is ongoing; you can expand your knowledge most through new experiences and by taking risks. Although not everything will ‘pay off’, the experience itself may be enough to change your perspective or find a new interest. It can also be a great way to socialize, by joining clubs, attending events, or even just picking up a new hobby, you may find others with similar interests or curiosities as you. Post-secondary education is what you make of it, and by being present and passionate about expanding your knowledge, you’re already doing better than most.”
Emma Paquette
Pre-Health-Sciences Pathway to Advanced Diplomas and Degrees → Medical Radiation Technology
“After completing the Pre-Health program, I can confidently say it provided a valuable opportunity to continue to expand my knowledge, improve my high school grades, and gain a deeper understanding of the pace and expectations of college life. I truly believe working through this pathway was a great choice. Over the one year, (…) I worked on my skills, connected with peers and new professors, and explored the amazing Fanshawe campus. I am excited for the rest of my journey at Fanshawe.
For anyone looking to continue their education I’d recommend keeping an open mind. Although it may seem overwhelming initially, there are an abundance of opportunities out there, it is just a matter of finding them. You are surrounded by staff and professors who are willing to work with you and truly want to see you succeed. Most importantly, do your best, stay curious, and remember to enjoy the experience along the way.”
