Electrical and Electronics Fundamentals (EEF) is a FREE course designed for individuals interested in pursuing a career in electrical and electronic fields, specifically with a focus on clean technology and the electric vehicle sector.

This course provides learners with fundamental knowledge and in-demand skills in engineering, manufacturing and green and clean technology. Recent announcements around electric vehicle and battery plants in Southwestern Ontario reiterate the need for these skills and present exciting opportunities for the future.

What to Expect

The learning modules cover electrical circuit design and analysis, electronic component assembly and repair, electrical safety and hazard prevention, industrial automation and controls, electrical code and regulation compliance.

Flexible online delivery allows you to complete the program on your own schedule. The course consists of 60 hours of virtual activities and interactive programming. Participants can expect online and multi-media resources including video lectures, interactive simulations and real-world case studies.

The course content becomes available Monday, February 5. Participants must complete the course by Friday, February 23 to earn their credential.

Participant Eligibility

Participants must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this program:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident or person who has been granted refugee status in Canada (the program is not open to international students at this time)
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial legislation and regulations
  • For English first language speakers, students must provide proof of proficiency as determined by the college or institute (grade 10 English or college admission testing may be used as an equivalency)
  • For English as a second language speakers, students must provide proof of English language skills (IELTS 6.0; CLB 6; CEFR B2) or equivalency as determined by the college or institute

Additionally, Participants Should

  • Be able to communicate effectively and have strong interpersonal skills
  • Be friendly, flexible, and willing to work in team-based environments
  • Be able to provide, accept and integrate constructive feedback
  • Have regular access to a PC or MAC with an internet connection, camera/microphone and recent versions of Google Chrome or Internet Explorer installed
  • Have basic computer knowledge and skills
