RDM at Fanshawe College

Fanshawe College supports researchers in the management of their research data. CRI strives to adhere to Canada’s Tri-Agency Policy on Research Data Management:

Objectives

  • To promote research excellence through the adoption of best practices in data management
  • To evaluate current institutional capacity in the area of data management
  • To identify supports and resources required to ensure research data stewardship
  • To devise a plan to develop institutional capacity
  • To provide clear guidance on data ownership and protection
  • To ensure security in data storage, retention and transfer
  • To encourage safe and ethical data sharing and reuse, particularly in the case of funded research
  • To balance open dissemination of knowledge with efforts to engage industry/community partnerships through commercialization of research

CRI RDM strategy

  • Raise awareness within the research community about the benefits of and best practices in data management and impending policy requirements
  • Assess institutional readiness to manage data holdings
  • Formalize RDM practices through the adoption of guidelines and procedures which provide clarity and strengthen community engagement with the research process
