Introducing Fanshawe’s Five-Year Action Plan

Fanshawe's Five-Year EDI Action Plan brings life to A College Where We Belong, the EDI framework launched in fall 2023. Developed by CEDI in collaboration with students, employees, and community partners, the Action Plan reflects a shared commitment to creating a more equitable and inclusive College for everyone. This process ensured broad engagement, meaningful input, and authentic commitment across all functional areas at Fanshawe.

What is an equity-deserving group?

An equity-deserving group is one that identifies barriers to equal access, opportunities, and resources due to systems of oppression. Systems of oppression include colonialism, racism, ableism, misogyny, patriarchy, homophobia, and transphobia. We support equity-deserving groups, allies, and anyone seeking to advance equity and inclusion.

Placement Support

We connect with organizations hosting Fanshawe students on placement to advise on equity and inclusion issues. Students experiencing equity issues on placement are also encouraged to reach out to CEDI.

Resources to Support Students on Placement

Office of the Ombuds

As part of Fanshawe College’s organizational restructuring, the responsibilities of the former Office of the Ombuds have been transitioned to other student-facing services, with the Centre for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (CEDI) now serving as a key access point for student support. The College remains committed to providing equitable and trauma-informed assistance; students with ongoing matters can email edi@fanshawec.ca for continued support. CEDI will listen to your concern, provide direct support when appropriate, and connect you with the most relevant campus resource to ensure your voice is heard and your needs are addressed.

SAFER Reporting

Supporting Anonymous Feedback on Equity, Hate, and Discrimination Reporting

The College has launched a form to provide the Fanshawe community an opportunity to disclose incidents of harassment, discrimination, or oppression, whether experienced directly or witnessed. The form is called SAFER: Supporting Anonymous Feedback on Equity, Hate, and Discrimination Reporting.

Submitting this form will not launch an investigation or a formal complaint. The data will help CEDI support responsive programming, identify systemic barriers, contribute to internal reporting on campus climate and patterns of harm, and provide anonymized summaries of incidents to improve campus safety. If you choose to provide your contact information on the SAFER form, CEDI will contact you to explore your options for reporting. We strongly encourage you to do so if you are seeking a resolution to the issue you’re experiencing.
