Sewing Essentials - Basic is an excellent opportunity for people with no prior experience in sewing to develop basic sewing skills for personal or professional purposes. After completing the micro-credential, students will learn the basic stitching techniques to succeed in Fashion Design, Costume Design or Cosplay or to complete personal interest sewing projects. Hand sewing and machine sewing methods will be explored through demonstration and hands-on learning. Industrial sewing machines and irons will be used in a professional wardrobe workroom for students to gain experience in industry-standard equipment and setting. Students will be prepared for intermediate and advanced stitching techniques after developing a sound foundation within this micro-credential. Industry standards, health and safety measures, and appropriate applications for methods taught will all be underscored through feedback-based assessment. Learning Outcomes: 1.
