Daniel Kennedy
Indigenous Personal Counsellor
About me:
Oki/Shekoli - My name is Daniel, and I am Oneida from Oneida Nation of the Thames, and Blackfoot from Piikani Nation. I grew up in a First Nation community outside of Wallaceburg, ON. I graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2013. I have been at Fanshawe College as the Indigenous Recruitment and Community Relations Advisor since 2014. I am currently working towards my Master’s in Social Work.
Why I find myself working in Indigenous Education is my belief in the opportunities Indigenous people can create with an Education. Education can truly be a Life Changer for many of our people. Yes, there could be struggles with navigating this education system, but you have a team of Indigenous educators who are willing to support you through your entire education journey at Fanshawe. Believe and See yourself in any job, role and career you desire. We need more Indigenous people in all areas of employment, this is how we can create change we wish to see.
