Now in its fourth year, this program continues to support learners in building successful careers in the automotive industry. In just 24 weeks, you can gain the skills, certifications, and hands-on experience needed to take your first step toward an automotive apprenticeship.

Program Details
This FREE program includes a blend of in-person and online training and is being offered in two sessions:
- Summer/Fall: June – December
- Fall/Winter: September – March
Each session runs for 14 weeks and is followed by a 10-week, paid work placement with a local employer. Work placement hours and wages are at the discretion of the employer. In-person training will take place at Fanshawe’s London Campus.
Hand tools, personal protective equipment and additional learning resources are provided. Qualifying participants may also be eligible for funding to offset certain expenses (travel, technology etc.).
A certificate of completion will be issued upon successful completion of all academic upgrading, Level 1 training requirements, safety certifications and the work placement.

What to Expect
310S Level 1 Training
From workplace practices and engines to electrical and braking systems, participants spend 14 weeks learning technical theory and gaining the hands-on experience.
Safety Certifications
Participants complete industry-relevant safety certifications, including WHIMIS, First Aid and Lock Out/Tag Out as well job readiness workshops which can help boost credibility and employability in the automotive sector.
Expert Instruction
Learn from automotive instructors who bring years of industry expertise to the classroom, providing invaluable knowledge, insights and guidance.
Flexible hybrid delivery
A combination of in-person (classroom and lab) and online study. Approximately 30 hours per week for 14 consecutive weeks (plus a 10-week paid work placement).
Employment Opportunities
From dealerships to independent garages, participants are eligible for a 10-week paid work placement (upon successful completion of the Level 1 training).
Eligibility and Registration
To be considered for pre-apprenticeship programs, applicants must:
- Be 18 years of age or older.
- Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident and legally entitled to work in Ontario.
- Have an Ontario secondary school diploma (OSSD) or grade 12 equivalent.
- Be able to provide proof of identification, SIN and education.
- Be able to commit to a full-time, 14-week training program plus a 10-week work placement.
- Have access to a computer and internet.
