Overview

Material Sciences

This in-class course will introduce the basic manufacturing, testing, and applications of materials found in a typical fabrication facility. Traditional materials such as ferrous and non-ferrous metals will be covered as well as non- metals such as plastics and composites. Students will be introduced to a wide range of manufacturing methods with an emphasis on the quality aspects. A hands-on lab component in the course exposes students to a variety of materials testing experiments. Writing of laboratory reports is an integral part of this course.
