Overview

Healing & Episodic Health

This course provides opportunities for nursing stream students to focus on individuals' and families' experiences with health and healing during illness. Various episodic and complex health challenges are explored using evidence-informed knowledge and health equity, client-centred, strengths-based, and trauma-informed lenses. This exploration enables learners to develop understandings of people's meanings and experience of illness, and support client's involvement in their care while exploring barriers and facilitators to people's health, capacity-building, and empowerment. Nursing stream students continue developing competence related to evidence-informed nursing knowledge, professional judgment, critical inquiry, collaborative practice, cultural humility, health teaching, and health promotion in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario practice standards and Entry-to-Practice competencies for Registered Nurses.
