International baking and culinary arts field trip to Switzerland

Fanshawe College chefs Roland Hofner and Patrick Hersey traveled to Switzerland with a group of 13 students from the Baking and Pastry Arts Management and Culinary Management programs from April 6 to 14, 2019.

The students experienced an incredible week of hands-on Swiss culinary training at the renowned Richemont school in Lucerne. Richemont is Switzerland’s leading Center of Excellence for bakery and confectionery studies. The students participated in five days of intense training with exposure to preparing European breads, pastries and production of Swiss chocolate. Each student graduated with a Richemont Certification. On the last day of the journey, the students took the opportunity to venture up Mount Pilatus, still covered in snow and ice, to proudly raise the Canadian flag.
