This course compares and evaluates Early Childhood Education philosophies and theories from both historical and contemporary perspectives. The emphasis will be on the student integrating current knowledge with experience from the field practicum, into a personal philosophy of Early Childhood Education.

In this introductory practical course, students learn the skills required to plan and instruct a group exercise class. Topics covered include basic anatomy, class formats, use of music, choreography, cueing, monitoring techniques and successful instruction techniques. Students gain experience in the instruction of group strength training, flexibility training, and traditional group exercise.

Explore building data models, normalization, and querying a database to benefit GIS. Work with spatial data that is stored in a relational database management system and build on storage techniques using relational databases (non-spatial) and spatially enabled databases (Geodatabases). You will also navigate security, administration, and the beginnings of enterprise driven data management.

This course identifies the importance of establishing respectful, inclusive and responsive relationships with families. Students examine positive strategies for engaging families that promote collaboration and well-being for children in their families. Students examine the role of advocacy and community resources and how they best support individual families and their needs.

You will be able to use word processing applications using basic operations in order to prepare documents for distribution. You will also use more advanced features such as creating tables, using pictures and images within a document, importing objects and using mail merge tools.

Students will learn how to communicate with each other, manage their time and work more efficiently using Microsoft Office Outlook. Proper email etiquette for sending and receiving electronic mail, organizational methods for storing mail, mailboxes, address books, contact lists, tasks and journals are among the topics covered.
