Now is a great time to consider a skilled trades career

One of the best ways into a career in the trades is through pre-apprenticeship training. Pre-apprenticeship programs offer trade-focused skill development by combining hands-on learning with level 1 technical instruction. This is a great first step towards becoming an apprentice and working towards a trade-specific certification.

Details

These level 1 pre-apprenticeship programs start in June and are comprised of 18 weeks of training followed by a 12-week paid work placement. They include academic upgrading, level 1 apprenticeship training (in-person) and relevant safety and employment readiness training. In-person classes will take place at Fanshawe’s London campus

Hand tools, personal protective equipment, and additional learning resources will be provided. Qualifying participants may also be eligible for funding to offset certain expenses (travel, technology etc.).

All pre-apprenticeship training programs are recognized by the MLITSD.

Pre-apprenticeship programs enable individuals interested in the trades to develop the essential skills needed to start an apprenticeship pathway. These programs are funded by the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development (MLITSD) and are being offered at no cost to qualifying participants in response to Ontario’s shortage of skilled workers.
