Promoting Women in the Skilled Trades
The Dr. Leonard Reeves Entrance Award for Women in Skilled Trades is available to students who self-identify as a woman, enrolled in eligible skilled trade programs.
Recipients in a 1-year certificate program may receive an initial $2,500 tuition payment, as well as a $2,500 tuition payment per academic term for the duration of their program (up to $5,000). 4 scholarships are available for the 2024/25 academic year.
Recipients in a 2-year diploma program may receive an initial $2,500 tuition payment, as well as a $2,500 tuition payment per academic term for the duration of their program (up to $10,000). 3 scholarships are available for the 2024/25 academic year.
Dr. Leonard Reeves has generously established this program to support the recruitment, retention, and employability of women in the skilled trades.

Eligibility

Applicants must:
- be a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or protected person/refugee;
- be enrolling in a full time, first year, eligible skilled trade program starting in fall 2024.
Renewal criteria: To keep their award, recipients must maintain a 2.0 GPA.

Selection Criteria
You must meet the following criteria to be in contention for the scholarship:
- have an admission average of 70% or above upon application;
- self-identify as a woman;
- answer the following question: What are your career aspirations and how will this funding help you achieve those goals? 500 word maximum.
