When you come to Open House at Fanshawe, you will want to get to know the school, its programs and its campus. Fanshawe will have plenty of events scheduled for you to take part in, but how can you make the most of it for you? Here are the 5 things you need to do at Open House to get to know Fanshawe College.

1. Plan Ahead

When you arrive at Open House, there will be plenty to see and do. Since Open House is often the deciding factor for students choosing a school, it’s important to be prepared. Before you go to Open House, you’ll want to have an idea of which programs you’re interested in learning about. Not sure what programs you want to check out yet? 2. Ask Questions

Now’s the time to ask lots of questions. There will be plenty of people to talk to at Fanshawe’s Open House including past and present students, faculty, and staff. Make sure you ask them questions. Talk to students to understand what their experience is at the college and talk to faculty to learn more about the benefits of taking particular programs. You’ll be given the chance to ask students your questions during This is Fanshawe: A student experience panel discussion.

3. Wander the Campus

Now’s your chance to wander the campus unabashedly. Classrooms, labs and residences will be open for you to explore. It’s time to find out how large and varied the campus is and see the different spaces you’ll have available to you to study, relax, or hang out with friends. Take this opportunity to envision yourself in the gardens in spring between classes, or grabbing a bite to eat at the Outback Shack.

4. Attend the Here for You Student Service Showcase

In addition to learning about your program and the spaces available, another must is to understand what support services will be available to you as a student here at Fanshawe. Go to J Gyms 1 and 2 to visit the Here for You Student Services Showcase and learn about things like health and wellness, accessibility and more services that will supplement your daily life at Fanshawe.

5. Collect Brochures (and Swag!)

Get reference materials like brochures and viewbooks. This will help you keep all the programs and schools straight and provide reference material for you when you want to review and compare schools later. Plus, open houses always have swag of some kind for you to take home!
