Strange Bodies
The Studio, February 24 - 28

Strange Bodies is a collaborative exhibition between Slavica Dusic and Priya Antone. Through different approaches, both artists create ambiguous forms that feel bodily and otherworldly.

Dusic’s work investigates the intricate details found in nature’s flora and fauna, through collage and drawing. Using labour-intensive processes, materials such as cardboard, pencil shavings, fake fur, cord are transformed into highly detailed and richly textured compositions. Close-up perspectives reveal intricate surfaces and patterns, inviting viewers to engage more intimately with the natural world.

Antone’s work embraces play, material experimentation, and world-building. They work with simple materials like cardboard, sand paste, paint, and yarn focusing on texture and form to create objects that feel strange yet believable. The sculptures disrupt the gallery space, creating a peculiar tension that is intriguing and approachable.

Strange Bodies highlights the mysterious nature of lifeforms through collage and sculpture, inviting curiosity and open-ended interpretation.
