Electrical Techniques is a one-year Ontario college certificate program. Students will learn the foundational knowledge of electrical fundamentals and theories. A variety of courses will discuss troubleshooting digital electronics, network cabling, installation practices, and industry communication. This program is designed to prepare students to enter an electrical apprenticeship program upon graduation.
Electrical Engineering Technician is a two-year Ontario college diploma program. Students will learn the electrical fundamentals, automation, and power generation and distribution. Throughout the program, students will work towards an AutoCAD certification. Graduates of this program will feel confident to wire industrial and residential projects, along with the ability to work on hydraulic/pneumatic systems, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and industrial automation.
Electrical Engineering Technology is a three-year Ontario advanced diploma program that includes up to 16 months of paid co-op experience. Students work on electrical, electronic, and digital components combined with a co-op that provides eight months of real-world electrician training and an upgrade to an advanced diploma.
This subject prepares students to inspect the performance of the following components of electrical systems within residential buildings: service drops, grounding systems, service panels, wiring systems, devices and fixtures.
In this course, students will develop an understanding of different types of electric vehicles (EVs) with a focus on mass-produced, consumer passenger vehicles. Students will explore pros and cons of EVs and be able to compare total cost of ownership (TCO) against traditional internal combustion vehicles (ICE).
This course is a comprehensive introduction to basic electrical theory and components used in aviation Alternating Current (AC) systems. Students will gain a familiarity with electrical equipment construction and operation, and its application in industry.
This course covers electrical units, Ohm's Law, circuits, magnetism and electromagnetism, relays and contactors as it relates to multi-skilling of trades and related workers. Fundamentals of AC/DC and an overview of transformer principles will be covered. The course will also introduce the students to Electric Motor Controls.
