What We Offer

General Education courses are designed to expand your knowledge of broad based topics that have societal and personal importance.

Students graduating from an Ontario College Certificate program must have completed one general education courses, which must be an elective and must be from a discipline outside the students’ principal field of study. Students graduating from an Ontario College Diploma program must have completed three general education courses: one may be mandated; two must be elective and must be from disciplines outside the students’ principal field of study. Continuing Education offers numerous General Education courses with flexible and convenient scheduling. The School of Language and Liberal Studies has approved the listed courses as credits. The student must achieve a "C" standing, or better to be awarded a credit standing for a General Education course.

Along with individual courses Continuing Education offers the Academic & Career Entrance (ACE) Certificate Program is provincially recognized as equivalent to Grade 12 for the purpose of admissions to all Ontario Colleges in pre-apprenticeship, apprenticeship and post-secondary programs. It is also recognized by many employers. Essential employability skills have been identified by Human Resources Development Canada and the Conference Board of Canada as an essential component to learning and are included in academic activities via workshop settings / group projects, presentations, and individual coursework. These skills include: Working with Others, Thinking Skills, Problem Solving Skills, Decision Making, Positive Attitudes or Behaviours and Adaptability.
