RT Practice - Simulation - Microcredential

This microcredential provides respiratory therapists with the opportunity to refresh and apply knowledge via hands-on practice in Fanshawe's High-Fidelity Simulation Lab. Learners will practice safe care related to all aspects of Respiratory Therapy via case-based simulation learning. This microcredential is intended for learners who want to refresh their knowledge to transition roles or enter the profession after a period away. Topics covered include the application of oxygen and aerosol delivery devices, airway equipment and adjuncts and ventilation equipment and strategies, patient assessment, collaboration, and critical thinking as per the 2016 National Competency Framework. Moreover, it is highly recommended that participants consider this microcredential as the culminating segment within the microcredential series. To optimize the learning experience, individuals are encouraged to engage with the preceding microcredentials in the series. The successful culmination of this particular microcredential is designed to furnish learners with the requisite skills essential for embarking upon a professional journey within the Respiratory Therapy profession. Learning Outcomes: 1. Communicate and collaborate effectively in the interdisciplinary health care team 2. Practice patient assessment and critical thinking in alignment with the 2016 National Competency Framework 3. Manage the patient's airway, provide optimal ventilation, administer medications, execute resuscitation and vascular access in alignment with the 2016 National Competency Framework This microcredential is delivered in person, at Fanshawe College in the High-Fidelity Simulation Lab.
