The WSET 1 micro-credential is a hands-on introduction to the world of wines and basic food pairings. Learners will learn about the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell and taste, exploring common wine grapes and their characteristics, learning how to store and serve wine, and the principles of food and wine pairing. The learner will be able to demonstrate their knowledge in their working environment. The micro-credential requires 7 hours of study time in a classroom, and learners who successfully complete the WSET1 exam will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin. Learners can progress to further levels of wine study into WSET levels 2 and 3. Learning Outcomes: 1. Describe and identify the key stages in grape growing and winemaking. 2. Identify the types, characteristics and styles of wines made from the principal grape varieties and other examples of wines. 3.
