The course provides the nursing stream student with preceptored professional practice opportunities in point-of-care contexts to synthesize knowledge acquired in the program for competence development in evidence-informed nursing practice, relational practice, leadership, and professional judgement. Guided by a Registered Nurse (RN) preceptor, the student is a contributing member of interprofessional health care teams, synthesizing nursing knowledge and skills while continuing to develop their professional identity in accordance with the Registered Nurse scope of practice and professional nursing standards and guidelines. During point-of-care practice, the student uses strengths-based approaches to focus on deepening their assessment, clinical judgement, and advocacy skills and abilities to provide client care that is ethical, respectful, safe, competent, and compassionate. At the completion of the course, the student will meet the Registered Nurse entry-to-practice competencies of the College of Nurses of Ontario.
