This series provides an excellent opportunity for people with no prior experience in sewing to develop basic sewing skills for personal or professional purposes. Students will learn the basic stitching techniques to succeed in Fashion Design, Costume Design or Cosplay or to complete personal interest sewing projects. Hand sewing and machine sewing methods will be explored through demonstration and hands-on learning.Courses

| Sewing Essentials - Basic is an excellent opportunity for people with no prior experience in sewing to develop basic sewing skills for personal or professional purposes. After completing the micro-credential, students will learn the basic stitching techniques to succeed in Fashion Design, Costume Design or Cosplay or to complete personal interest sewing projects. Hand sewing and machine sewing methods will be explored through demonstration and hands-on learning. Industrial sewing machines and irons will be used in a professional wardrobe workroom for students to gain experience in industry-standard equipment and setting. Students will be prepared for intermediate and advanced stitching techniques after developing a sound foundation within this micro-credential. Industry standards, health and safety measures, and appropriate applications for methods taught will all be underscored through feedback-based assessment. Learning Outcomes: 1. Gain a foundational knowledge of construction through demonstration and hands-on learning. 2. Understand, and communicate in, basic construction terminology. 3. | Sewing Essentials- Intermediate is an excellent opportunity for those with basic sewing experience of seams, seam/ hem finishes, sewing darts and simple closures to expand on their knowledge. People who are interested in sewing for personal or professional purposes to develop intermediate level sewing skills that include some pocket types, binding and hem finishing methods and zipper installations. Students with some experience in sewing will continue to develop their sewing skills to succeed in Fashion Design, Costume Design or Cosplay or to complete personal interest sewing projects. Hand sewing and machine sewing methods will be explored through demonstration and hands-on learning. Industrial sewing machines and irons will be used in a professional wardrobe workroom for students to gain experience in industry-standard equipment and setting. Students will be prepared for advanced stitching techniques after developing a sound foundation within this micro-credential. Students will build on their experience in sewing with more difficult techniques covering advanced pocket types, closures and garment finishes. After completing the micro-credential, students will have a better understanding of sewing techniques to succeed in Fashion Design, Costume Design or Cosplay or to complete personal interest sewing projects. Hand sewing and machine sewing methods will be explored through demonstration and hands-on learning.
